【内容】 『カヴァレリア・ルスティカーナ』（イタリア語: Cavalleria Rusticana）は、ピエトロ・マスカーニが同戯曲に基づいて作曲した1幕物のオペラ（1889年初演）。題名は「田舎の騎士道」といった意味である。ヴェルガの出身地シチリアの山間部を舞台として、貧しい人々の暮らし、三角関係のもつれから起きる決闘と殺人を描いたこの小説は、イタリアにおけるヴェリズモ（リアリズム文芸運動）の典型的作品とされている。 マスカーニのオペラは1890年に完成し、楽譜出版社ソンゾーニョ社主催の1幕物オペラ・コンクールで圧倒的な支持を受けて優勝、マスカーニはたちまちオペラ界の寵児となった。また、このオペラはヴェリズモ・オペラ形式の端緒をなすものとされる。 「天の元后、お喜びください」は、アルフィオがやってきて村人たちに声をかけられる。村人が復活祭の讃美歌を歌って教会へと入っていく場面で演奏される。この楽曲は、前半のこの事件の発端から後半に不幸な決闘と結末までの中間にあたる部分で、カヴァレリア・ルスティカーナの重要なレチタチィーヴォとアリアになっている。今回はこの楽曲を金管八重奏の重厚な響きで楽しみたいと思います。

CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA (Italian: Cavalleria Rusticana) is a one-act opera composed by Pietro Mascagni i based on the same play (premiered in 1889). The title means "chivalry in the country." Set in the mountains of Sicily, verga native, the novel, which depicts duels and murders that arise from the tangle of the lives and triangular relationships of the poor, is considered to be a typical work of Verizumo (realism literary movement) in Italy. Mascagni opera was completed in 1890 and won the one-act opera competition hosted by music publisher Sonzogno, and Mascagni quickly became a darling of the opera world. The opera is also considered to be the beginning of the verismo Opera. Alfio comes and calls out to the villagers. It is played in the scene where the villagers enter the church singing the hymn of Easter. The song is halfway between the first half of the incident and the unfortunate duel and the end in the second half, with CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA 's important recitativo and Aria.
